- In October 1830, Parley was called to a mission to the American Indians. Due to an order by a federal agent, he was eventually expelled from Indian Territory.[1]
- In 1836, Parley, his brother Orson, and Eleazer Freeman Nickerson traveled to Upper Canada to preach the gospel.[2]
- Parley was a member of the Camp of Israel (later known as Zion's Camp).[3]
